Our History

Even before the chartering of the Alpha Gamma Chapter at Virginia Union University on April 9, 1927, there were three Kappa men who dreamed and toiled for Kappadom to come to the Commonwealth of Virginia. They were Jesse M. Tinsley, D.D.S., a local area dentist initiated at the Lambda Chapter (Temple University), Booker T. Bradshaw, Sr., an insurance executive initiated at the Beta Chapter (University of Illinois), and Coach O.A. Wilson initiated at the Epsilon Chapter (Lincoln University).

In time, the Richmond (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on April 7, 1945. On September 30, 1945, the chapter had its initial meeting of formation and the naming of the officers to assume the responsibilities necessary, in turn, meeting the standards established by the Grand Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
